Youngsters rape woman

A 52-year-old married woman was raped by a 25-year-old man in Umling, Gelephu, on November 17 at around 9 pm.
He was assisted by an 18-year-old man. It was found that the two from the same village entered the woman’s house through the door which was not latched properly. One of them gagged the woman while the other raped her.
During the incident, the woman was alone at home. She has been sent for medical examination.
The case was reported to the police by the Dungmin of the village the following morning.
According to the Penal Code of Bhutan, if two or more persons engage in raping another person, the defendants shall be guilty of the offence of a gang rape.
The offence of gang rape of a married person shall be a felony of the third degree carrying a minimum imprisonment of five years and maximum of nine years. Each defendant will also be liable to pay “gao” in accordance with other laws.
Meanwhile, the accused confessed the crime to the police.
